Here are some things to keep in mind when preparing for any service:
MASSAGE: During your massage I want you to feel completely at ease and comfortable. Make sure to inform me of any and all injuries and conditions that could affect your treatment. After our consultation, I will leave the treatment room to allow you to get on the table. At this point you will disrobe to your comfort level. Some people prefer to take off all of their clothes, while others prefer to remain in their undergarments. Whichever you choose, you will be properly draped at ALL times. If there is anything that can be adjusted to make your treatment more enjoyable, whether it is temperature, music, head rest, bolsters or amount of pressure, don't hesitate to let me know. This is your massage and I want it to be the best possible experience for you! I specialize in deeper work and often times clients experience tenderness and even soreness in the days following their treatment. This is normal and is a result of the release of toxins and lactic acids that were built up and trapped in the muscles. The deep work releases these into the bloodstream. The best way to combat this is to drink plenty of water both before and after your treatment, in order to flush out these toxins. Another great remedy is a hot epsom salt bath following the massage. The epsom salts are an excellent means of drawing out the toxins.
WAXING: Please inform me if you are using any products containing retinol, retin-A or retinoid products, acne medications, have had facial chemical treatments, facial resurfacing or microdermabrasion. These techniques thin the skin in order to reduce the appearance of fine lines, however, that thinner skin is much more prone to tears and rips when waxed. You will also want to avoid waxing while taking any medications that warn you to avoid sun while taking them. Tanning can also affect this skin's sensitivities. And skin is more susceptible to sunburning (from the sun or tanning beds) after being waxed, due to the fact that the upper dead surface skin cells tend to be removed with the wax, leaving the skin less protected. If you must tan, you will want to make sure to cover and protect the waxed area.
FACIALS: Prior to beginning your facial, we will discuss what concerns that you have with your skin. Men, women and teens can all benefit from a facial. For teens, it is a great source of education on how to care for their skin and hopefully avoid acne symptoms. Eminence Organics is a fabulous skin care line with so many products to combat all skin issues. The products contain 90-99% active ingredients and are extremely effective. Facials should be relaxing and I like to allow you to have quiet time, however, if you have questions, please don't hesitate to ask me. I love to explain what I'm doing, which products that I'm using and to find solutions for all skin issues. Whether your concerns stem from hormones, diet, products, lifestyle or your skin care regiment, we can come up with viable solutions! I do recommend that after your facial, you try to leave your skin untouched for as long as possible. Ideally you will have worked out before, you won't have to put on makeup immediately and your skin will be given as much time as possible to absorb all of the healing properties of the products. Your skin will thank you!
- Arrive on time. I understand that things come up and I will do my best to accommodate you, however, I may have to shorten the length of your service, in order to stay on schedule.
- Please, whenever possible, arrange for childcare services during your services, so that you may fully enjoy your time away.
- Turn cell phones to silent so that you may relax and "escape", without interruption, during your service.
- If you must cancel, as a courtesy to me and others who may want your appointment time, please do so with at least a 24 hour notice. This allows me the opportunity to try to provide someone else with a service during that time. If 24 hour notice is not received, you will be billed for the full price of the service.
